The word 'ashram' comes from the Sanskrit root ashraya meaning ‘refuge’ or ‘retreat’. An ashram is a place of retreat from the noise and distractions of the world, allowing us the time and, space to reflect on what we are doing with our lives and who we are. It provides a harmonious atmosphere, conducive to meditation and introspection, so that we start to understand how we function on a deeper level.

It is a sacred place where we can gain inner nourishment, inspiration and strength to continue with our lives in the world, helping to foster cooperation and harmony in society - an ashram has much to offer the stress-filled world.
