The ashram teachings have always emphasised the value of ongoing mantra practice as it offers us an accessible and yet profound way of stepping back from an over-identification with the patterns of mind, and tuning into more subtle levels of our inner experience. Mantra can also blend easily with music, to uplift the mind and heart, and reignite our inner joy and appreciation for life.
The word mantra is derived from the Sanskrit roots man - mind, and tra – to liberate. As such a mantra offers us a different alternative to our habitual stereotypical thinking, reminding us of our deeper connection to Source. A mantra encapsulates potent vibrational energies which directly impact on the deeper patterns of mind and heart. Repeated practice thereby acts to refine and energise our embodied self, and awaken us to our underlying mystical nature.
During this 4-day festival, alongside Swamiji and other senior ashram teachers, there will be a range of other presenters sharing their own experience and joy of mantra and music. These will include:
•    Swami GyanDharma offering powerful sessions of mantra chanting including kirtan
•    Rajesh David and Upasana giving beautiful concerts to uplift the heart
•    Louise Thorndycraft sharing her own inspiring gift for kirtan
In addition there will be explorations of the use of mantra in the paths of Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Gyana Yoga and Dhyana Yoga. There will also be a daily havan (fire ceremony) incorporating mantra, and a mandala created using the energy of mantra.
This festival will offer you the opportunity to immerse yourself in mantra, kirtan and music, to let go and share with new and existing friends, and to go away with new inspiration and resources for how mantra can enhance your daily life.
